Eisteddfods

At Cathy Makin Dance Academy we enter selected groups to perform in 2 local eisteddfods per year- one in April and the other in the July school holidays.

There are no ‘auditions’ or selected students for these groups. The only requirement is that your child is to do one classical class per week. This is just to keep their technical standard up.

Eisteddfods are a great opportunity for your child to perform and are a great way to work as a team. If your child does private lessons they are more than welcome to enter in as many eisteddfods as they like.

Examinations

We hold exams every year for

* Classical Ballet R.A.D

* Tap H.O.T F.E.E.T

Exams are a great way for students to set a goal and then to work towards it. The children progress every year with more challenging work and a higher technical standard required.

Generally exams are held within the first few weeks of term 3 at our own studio. To do a classical ballet exam, students must attend 2 ballet lessons per week. To do a tap exam, students must attend their weekly tap class.
